The rear of the card reads: 'Lamia and the Soldier' was inspired by Keats' poem 'Lamia', about a bridegroom who discovers on his wedding night that his beautiful bride is a man-and-child-eating half-serpent. The only clue to her true identity is the snake skin draped around her.
